The Gentleman’s marketplace

What is the marketplace ?
The Gentleman’s marketplace is an e-commerce site where products are provided by multiple third parties, whereas transactions are processed by the marketplace operator (here the Gentleman Français). This place includes new products called “Classic style”.

The Gentleman Français could also sell products under his name.

The third party (called the partner or vendor) is fully responsible of processing the order and the shipment. It is in charge of refunding the order in case of a product return. The Gentleman Français could help you to contact the vendor.

The Gentleman pays particular attention to the professionalism of the vendors and may allow itself to withdraw access rights if the required level of quality is not achieved. This verification involves good business practices, such as verifying the data provided by the vendor, the contacts he gives on his card, the return clauses, certifications of third party organizations, the sales success rate, customer evaluations, etc….

What are the classified Ads ?
The Gentleman Français proposes an additional service of publication of classified ads for non or professional vendors. This service allows sales of accessories for second-hand or ‘vintage’ (and only second-hand) between vendors and buyers. The interested buyer is free to lead the deal with the vendor.
The administrators of the Gentleman Français verify every published ad but do not act as guarantor for the vendor. Every buyer has to verify the sincerity of the vendor and the proposed product.

My order

How to find a product ?
At the top right of the each page of the site, you will find a search engine, symbolized by a magnifying glass. Enter directly the name of a product either a keyword or a category.
How do I know if my order is being processed ?
Once your payment was processed, a thankyou page appears on the screen and indicates you that your order is validated.
Within the hour, a confirmation email is sent to you indicating the validation of your order and payment.
You can see your orders in your personal account by clicking on “My Account”, then “My Orders”.
Can I change my order once it has been confirmed?
You can modify your order as long as this one was not validated. In your cart, you can add or delete any product.
It is impossible to modify the contents of a order which was validated.
How to track my order ?
You can track at any time the state of your order on your personal account. Click “My Account”, then “My Orders” by referring you to the order Id received in the confirmation email.

My payments

How can I pay my order ?
The following methods of payment are available on the Gentleman Français website : VISA (Stripe), Mastercard (Stripe), Carte Bleue (Stripe), Apple Pay or Paypal transfer.
PayPal is a secure online account that stores and safeguards your bank, credit or debit card details, which allows you to pay safely and easily without sharing any of your financial information. Creating your PayPal account is easy. After choosing PayPal as the Payment method in the check-out area and after click on “Payment” button, you will be forwarded to the PayPal web site, where you only have to register for PayPal. After processing your payment you will be led back to the Gentleman Français site where you can finalize your order. You will receive a payment e-mail confirmation from PayPal and an order e-mail confirmation from the Gentleman Français.
How can I be sure my payment details are secure?
For a complete security, the website supports a SSL (Secure Socket Layer) cyphering mechanism that guarantees the stronguest security of any data handled between your computer and the server.
To handle payments,the website uses Stripe, Apple Pay or Paypal services.
In the case of Stripe, all your payment details are encrypted to be sent directly to the Stripe payment gateway and are never stored on the Gentleman servers.
In the case of Apple Pay or Paypal, both sites already known your payment details. Hence, they are never transfered during a transaction on the Gentleman website.
Hence, the website site is compliant with PCI DSS requirements.
When does the payment occur ?
Your Paypal account or bank card is charged as soon as the order is treated by the Gentleman Français or his partners. You receive an email confirming the conclusion of your order and its shipping. You will also receive an invoice with the total amount of your purchases.

My shipment

Where does the Gentleman ship?
The Gentleman Français or his partners delivers to the address of your choice anywhere in the world. Otherwise, this is clearly displayed in the product description.
What are the shipping delays ?
Your order is handled as soon as it is validated,during a business week (from Monday to Friday).
According to the shipper, the average delay of delivery is from 3 to 7 working days (except sundays and holidays).
However, during certain periods, in particular in sales period and in any other commercial period, the delays could be longer because of the largest number of orders to be delivered.
How can I track the delivery of my order ?
As soon as your order is shipped, you will receive a new email confirming the delivery in progress. In this email, you will find a tracking number and more information about the shipping.

Refund and return

How long do I have to return a product ?
Based on the french consumer code, you have 14 days to return your product(s) from the first day of reception of your order. Product(s) must be returned in original conditions and packaging. Any dirt and/or damaged returned article will not be taken back and will not be refunded.
What are the conditions of refund and return ?
The return is made by the shipper of your choice. The cost of return are at your expens unless the return is due to a defect of the product or an error from the Gentleman or from one of his partner (eg.size or color different from what was ordered),.
In any case, please contact by email the customer service of the vendor of your product(s) (partner of the Gentleman Français) or directly the Gentleman Français at c[email protected] if he is the vendor.
The returned products are verified by the logistic service. If it fill the preliminary criteria of the refund, your refund request will be treated and your bank account will be credited within 7 days after the validation of the vendor or the Gentleman Français (if he is the vendor).
You will receive an email informing you that you were refunded.
How much does it cost to return a product ?
Expenses and risks of the shipment of your returned product(s) are at your expense and under your responsibility except return request in case of a non-compliant product or an error from the vendor or the Gentleman Français (if he is the vendor). Hencey, it is up to you to keep all the proofs of return.
The Gentleman invites you to return product by sending it with registered mail or Colissimo or by any other means allowing you to bring a proof of the shipment. This proof of shipment must contain the following information: sender/recipient addresses, shipment date and a number/Id of the parcel.

What should I do if I receive a damaged or faulty product ?
First of all, consult this FAQ. If you do not find the answer to your question, you might contact by email the vendor of the product or the Gentleman Français (if he is the vendor) at the following address [email protected]
The Gentleman Français examines any complaint made by a customer who is dissatisfied with a product. It reserves the right to re-examine the product concerned or refuse to sell it if it does not meet the quality level required by any Gentleman. Similarly, if a vendor’s performance does not meet the level of requirements expected by a customer in terms of delivery, follow-up and contact, the Gentleman Français may revise the conditions of access of this vendor to its market place.

That’s why products and sales reviews are very important for the smooth running of the site. To leave a review, go to « My Account », then « My Orders » with your order number, then « Leave feedback ».

My ads

How to publish an ad ?
Once you have created a personal account on the Gentleman Français, you can submit classified ads online. The submission of an ad is made from the following link:
SUBMIT AN AD.
At the very least, you must specify your first name, last name and email address. You can also add a phone number that will not appear directly on the site pages. Please take special care in drafting the description as factually as possible. The price and location are not mandatory but greatly increase your chances of contact. The short description is the text displayed in search engines like Bing and Google. By filling it out, you increase the visibility of your ad.

The publication of an ad is free and lasts 30 days. However, there are paid options available to promote your ad or extend its lifetime. After clicking on “Publish Ad” button, you will be redirected to the cart to finish the payment. Once the payment is done, the option will be automatically activated once the ad is published.

What can I sell with classified ads?
Any product falling within the predefined categories can be sold and within the limits set by the T&C. A product must be second-hand, complete (no spare parts), unique (no stock), real (the seller must be in possession of the product). The Gentleman may refuse to publish an advertisement that does not correspond to the ethics and spirit of the site.
Can I put pictures and how to do it ?
The pictures allow you to highlight the product sold. There is no limit on the number of pictures. Please select pictures in jpeg format that are directly related to the product. Pictures must be of good quality and resolution. The Gentleman invites you to favor pictures on a white background with a strong luminosity. Many tutorials are available on the internet to make this kind of photo-montage.
Do you validate the ads ?
All ads are checked before publication. The Gentleman ensures the sincerity of the ad and checks if it is not in contradiction with the T&C of the site. The Gentleman does not guarantee the authenticity of products and sellers. It is the responsibility of the prospective buyer to verify it at any time before purchase.
Shall I display the price?
It is not mandatory to display prices. The price can be negotiated between the parties without the Gentleman intervening.
However, the seller undertakes not to proceed with auctions between potential buyers.
If a buyer is interested, is it possible to conclude without the help of the Gentleman?
Yes, the Gentleman Français puts the potential buyer and the seller in contact, but does not intervene in the conclusion of the sale. An email messaging service is available for initial contact between the parties.
Who manages the shipment?
If a shipment is necessary for an ad sale, it must be organized between the buyer and the seller.
What to do in case of difficulties with a seller?
It is the buyer’s responsibility to verify the sincerity of a seller. However, if you encounter any problems with a seller, please contact the French Gentleman.
How do I remove my ad once it's sold?
Advertisements can be renewed or removed from your personal account, under “My ads”.

Why should I create an account ?
The benefits of creating an account with the Gentleman Français are the following:

  • Save your personal information for quick and easy ordering ;
  • Save your order history ;
  • Track your deliveries as soon as they leave the Gentleman’s facilities or those of his partners ;
  • Create a wishlist of your favourite products to save it for later or to share it with friends and family ;
  • Create waiting list of out-of-stock products and be notified of their next availability ;
  • Manage your email subscriptions ;
  • Receive special offers from the Gentleman Français ;
  • – Save all your published classified Ads.

    How do I create my account ?
    To create an account, you have two options :

  • You could create an account directly during a purchase by informing the various fields at the time of validating your cart.
  • You create an account by clicking “Connection” in the upper right menu bar.
  • In both cases, you will receive an confirmation email with your identifiers.

    In the case I have lost your password, what can I do ?
  • Go to top right of the page and click « My account » ;
  • Click on « Lost your password ? » link and enter your email address.
  • You will then receive an email with a link to proceed to the change of your password.

    How can I modify my account details ?
    To modify your profile or any details, you need to log in your account by clicking on “My Account” link with your e-mail/identifier and password saved during account creation. Once logged in, click on “Addresses”. You will find all information editable about your account. Your information will be saved by clicking on “Save”.
    Are my personal data safe ?
    Name, email, phone number and address are required to process your orders (they are object of automated processing with no human intervention). These data are ciphered and stored in our website. They are only used to process your orders with our selling and shipping partners. They are never shared with other third party companies.
    According to the french law #78-17 of 6th January 1978, you have the right to access, modify and delete your data. To use this right, you are pleased to send us an email to [email protected] or to modify directly your data online.
    What should I do if I do not wish to receive the newsletter ?
    You will only receive our newsletter if you subscribe to it via the Gentleman Français website.
    If you no longer wish to receive our newsletter, please use the unsubscribe link that could be found at the bottom of the newsletter. This does not affect your account. Otherwise, you could log in to your account and change your subscription on « Email subscription » link.
